The Millionaire Mantra
“According to the latest World Wealth Report by Cap Gemini and Merrill Lynch, the number of millionaires in Singapore — defined as having liquid assets of US$1 million — grew by 22.4 per cent over the past year to hit some 55,000. The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore puts the number of people here earning over $1,000,000 in taxable income at 1,724 — a 15 per cent increase compared to the previous financial year…”
THE MILLIONAIRE MANTRA
“To get truly rich, says Million Asia’s Mr Yim, one has to embrace the risk of striking out
on one’s own.”
He added: “Millionaires are unlikely to be salaried employees unless they are CEOs of very large companies with an annual turnover of $100 million or more. They are more often your self-made businessman.”
Mr Kunalan Sivapuniam, 37, is one such example. He left a lucrative career as an investment banker two years ago to set up his own investment firm — Emirates Tarian Capital — which is now a jointly owned by the Sharjah-based Emirates Investment Group. The group has plans to invest at least $1 billion in Singapore’s hotel and leisure industry and around Asia.
My Comments
